Pope denounces 'gender theory'

POPE Benedict XVI has denounced gender theory, warning that it blurs the distinction between male and female and could thus lead to the "self-destruction" of the human race.

When the Roman Catholic Church defends God's Creation, "it does not only defend the earth, water and the air ... but (it) also protects man from his own destruction'', the Pope said in his end-of-year speech to the Vatican hierarchy today.

Gender theory, which originated in the United States, explores sexual orientation, the roles assigned by society to individuals according to their gender and how people perceive their biological identity.

The Catholic Church has repeatedly spoken out against gender theory, which gay and transgender advocacy groups promote as a key to understanding and tolerance.

"If tropical forests deserve our protection, humankind ... deserves it no less,'' the 81-year-old pontiff said, calling for "an ecology of the human being''.

It is not "outmoded metaphysics'' to urge respect for the "nature of the human being as man and woman'', he told scores of prelates gathered in the Vatican's sumptuous Clementine Hall.

Obviously, the Pope and his church do not know enough science and, more explicitly that in sex determination there are variations of the XX and XY combinations, ad infinitum - something at least God knows.

Mr. Ratzinger is a foolish man, and not just a little deluded. He's angering not only the LGBT community, but also the rest of the world community that understands that forms of homosexuality is and has always been a part of human society. He seems not to be very astute as a student of human history, and certainly not of his organization's history. Happily, it is satisfying to note that the human race has not self-destructed due to sexual orientation in all these millenia that it has been around. His organization, however, has been hell-bent on the destruction of other human beings who are not like them during several notable periods in Western history. He and his organization are focused on dividing the human race, rather than uniting it.

For some reason he appears to feel that he and his organization are defenders of the human race against this self-destruction theory. Fortunately, that has always been an easily debunked theory.

I imagine that if he were to take a *genuine* life-threatening issue or two in-hand, he would work on policing his own organization to rid it of perverted priests and lay people who like to force themselves onto young children, destroying their lives. Or, perhaps he could set a standard for tolerance of people who are not like him.

Hmm. I wonder what the "WWJD" saying would be for this matter?

Perhaps it is people like him and his organization from which we should be defended?

guys, do you have to be offensive when writting about a very important matter; at least try to give some serious arguments as to why what the Pope is saying is false or whatever you believe it is.

Just for the record, what the pope is saying has been the historic message of the Christian church for the last two milleniums, if you have a problem with that, that's fine. but please do not act as if you are shocked at hearing something for the first time.

The Church happens to believe that it has been entrusted with an eternal message of truth for the world. it is the same message it has proclaimed these last 20 centuries and it is not about to change it now. Whether you believe it or not its your free choice; you just can not have a say in changing it.
