July 3 (Bloomberg) -- Pope Benedict XVI urged the leaders of the Group of Eight nations to cut debt and adopt policies to alleviate poverty in Africa, "a continent often ignored.''
The pope, speaking before delivering the Sunday Angelus prayer in St. Peter's Square today, said he hoped leaders "can share in solidarity the costs of reducing the debt and enact concrete measures to eradicate poverty and promote authentic growth in Africa.''
