From YouTube-Vatican's Channel:
July 12, 2009

Pope Benedict XVI received the President of the United States of America, Barack H. Obama, in private audience on Friday at the Apostolic Palace. Their brief and cordial conversation touched the defense and promotion of life and the right to conscientious objection. Mention was also made of immigration, with particular attention to family reunification. Issues of international politics in the light of the G8 Summit were at the center of their discussions which dwelt on prospects of peace in the Middle East and other regional situations as well. Finally they stressed the importance of education for tolerance in every country.

I had a lovely experience recently and wrote a slightly irreverent piece about it on my blog. Please take a look at http://richardsmindspaces.blogspot.com/2007/04/is-pope-connected.html

As to your question: Yes, I believe, Pope Benedict is connected. Direction from the Holy Spirit is required to produce works of such brilliance and wisdom. Without such inspiration he could not have written an encyclical of such spiritual beauty: Deus Caritas Est (God is Love). See http://www.catholicculture.org/culture/library/view.cfm?id=6768&repos=1&subrepos=0&searchid=497238. For a compendium of Cardinal Ratzinger/Pope Benedict XVI's writings, see http://www.catholicculture.org/culture/library/collection.cfm?collectionid=3.

As the Scriptures proclaim: "You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart" (Jer 29:13).

God bless you and your search for Him!

Denice
